score available for purchase As the title suggests the work is based on the idea of transcription. Two sentences by Walter Benjamin (taken from his text "Über Sprache überhaupt und über die Sprache des Menschen") provide the text material for the voice. The second sentence "the translation is the transfer from one language into the other by a continuum of transformations" is the most important one. Voice and piano form a strong relationship and provide the basic skeleton of the work which is characterized by a noisy, percussive musical texture. A few basic elements, figures, gestures provide the musical material. They recur in a lot of different ways - they become translated / transcribed.
